All water main on Town and County roads have been completed. These areas have been hydro seeded as part of the preliminary restoration to prevent erosion. Disturbed blacktop on roads and driveways has been repaired. The crew encountered heavy rock as they tried to bore under Tunnery Brook on Route 238 so our contractor (Randsco Pipeline) and our engineers (Mountain Engineering) are working with DEC to find an acceptable solution for the crossing. The two sections that remain to be completed, are the Railroad crossings on Attica Rd. and Town Line Ext.
Water main is now being installed on Route 20 starting at the Village of Alexander line and working west.
At the water tank site sub-contractors have stripped the area where the tank will set and it passed the test to ensure that the ground can hold the weight of the water tank. They will continue to prepare the site for the tank foundation. Verizon also moved a fiber optic cable that was located near the tank foundation site to the Route 20 right of way. Another sub-contractor has installed conduit for the generator pad. They will be pouring the concrete pad for the generator in June and continue electrical construction.

The next step in the formation of water district #6 is to take a petition door to door to have residents of the water district sign if they are in favor of forming the district. Those opposed do not sign the petition. We will need at least 50% of resident property owners assessed valuation and at least 50% of all property owners assessed valuation of the district to sign to move forward with the district. We have the petition ready but decided in light of the COVID-19 pandemic to wait to go out and ask for signatures. We will be setting up training by our attorney and engineer for petition carriers. If you are interested in being a petition carrier for Water District #6 contact Shannon at 585-591-2455 and we will let you know the time and date of the training session.
