One of the Building and Zoning Officers for the Town of Alexander can be contacted between the hours of 6am-4pm, Monday - Friday. If no one answers, please leave a message and one of us will return your call at our earliest available time to do so.
The Building /Zoning Permit applications are also available at the Town Clerk's office during regular business hours.
This is required for every project including farming and non-farming projects.
This deals with the placement of the project and the use of the project on a legal lot.
This deals with the construction of the project and the specific use that was applied for and approved. The Town of Alexander follows NYS Uniform Code.

Call me if you have questions regarding any Building or Zoning questions or concerns. The Town of Alexander charges triple the fee if a project is started prior to the issuance of a permit.
It is the responsibility of the permit holder to make all calls for permits and inspections. We require 24 hour advance notice for all inspections, depending on workloads we can be onsite in less than 24 hours if requested.
Call with any questions or clarifications as to what paperwork your project will need so as not to delay your project.
Inspections are performed at the following stages of construction:
- Site Layout
- Rough Framing
- Rough Plumbing
- Electrical (Completed by 3rd party)
In order to be issued a Certificate of Occupancy, you must have the Final Electrical Certificate and the Genesee County Health Department Certificate (if needed) for septic system.
No Certificate of Occupancy will be issued without them.
